I was bored a few days ago and was looking for a skeleton shirt like the one in Donnie Darko on Amazon.com. Eventually, this became an hour-long quest for a badass skull shirt, and in the end, I couldn't find one. There was an awesome gothic-style one, but it was sold out, and I don't think they were going to get any more. That made me sad, so I decided to make my own. I tried, and as I was using India ink and a brush, failed. Before throwing away the page, however, I decided to try again, drawing over my lines with a black paint pen. Then I got a toothbrush, covered it in ink, and slapped it against the paper. I also played around with the brush again, and decided to go for a sloppy, grunge-ish look.
In the end, it reminds me of a post-punk 90's poster, or something you'd see on a T-shirt (I would so wear this if anyone ever made one.)
You would wear it? Then why not order one from one of those of those t-shirt customization places (I'm not finding the right words here...) where they can put any picture you like on the shirt? I myself have a shirt that I designed, but that's also because it was mass-produced for the Honors College, so 30 other people have it too.
That's odd that it's so hard to find an awesome skull shirt. I think my oldest brother had about half-a-dozen, though I think at least a couple were from Slayer concerts.
I could only find the usual Hot Topic style designs when I looked. They were just large skulls kind of off to the side, hidden by a checkered design. That's no fun at all.
I don't know a T-shirt customization place that I could use, though. I'm not sure which ones use actual silkscreening, and which ones use an iron-on transfer system and essentially rip you off. I looked at CafePress, but I question their quality and had a hard time figuring out their process for creation.

What is the world coming to? This explains why I buy awesome shirts when I see them, because I doubt I'll ever be able to find the same sort of design again. About a year ago, skulls were everywhere.
That is true that most use the iron-on technique, and I don't know much about which places use what. If I design a shirt, I'm usually designing it for someone, so I leave it to them to figure out where to place their order. Sorry I can't really help you there...
Haha. The sad thing is, I went to Hot Topic yesterday to search for a skull shirt, and while they really didn't have any, they did have one thing better: a Domo-kun shirt! FUCKING DOMO-KUN! It's just this large face staring at you on a brown T-shirt, and it is amazing. So I guess that will be better while I wait for the shirt I wanted. I have to question my mentality when I look for a shirt with skulls and walk away with a shirt like the one I got. I don't understand. I even say a skull shirt back in February before my cruise trip for only a few dollars, and maybe a few more even later than that. And really, you'd think of all places, Hot Topic would never run out of skull shirts.
By the way, they also had a Sweeney Todd shirt with just the image of a straight-razor and the bloody heart logo behind it. It was a black hoodie, and I was so going to buy it...but they want $44 for it. Stupid capitalism.
*sigh* I guess I'll just search around and try to find a design site that works. I don't mind the iron-on thing so much, but I'd be pretty upset if I got my shirt back and part of it was constantly flaking off.

Ah yes, I have seen and worshipped the Sweeney Todd goods at Hot Topic. And I did buy a t-shirt with Todd in the whole "At last, my arm is complete again!" pose, which, fortunately, was $22 rather than $44. (And wonderfullness, I just went there about an hour ago, and they finally have Nightwish t-shirts, and for only $15 at that . It's hard finding merchadise when your favorite band is from Finland.)
You should be able to find a non-flake design site somewhere, though silk-screen would be better...
And by the by, did you ever acquire a copy of Fight Club? If not, I can let Kelly abduct mine for you, though I probably won't see him till Tuesday.
*sigh* No. No, they're out again. And now they have Haunted--which they had 20 copies of that disappeared the next week I wanted it--but neither Fight Club nor Lullaby. Somebody hates me.
I'm not sure if I'd want a Nightwish T-shirt until I hear their newest CD. They switched vocalists, and the last one kinda gave them their unique sound. I'm sure the other girl is lovely, but it's not quite the same. I haven't heard enough of the new CD to really judge it, though.

Good luck on finding a suitable skull shirt.
