There's a fax machine where my soul should be.
It prints out little facts like these:

THAT I'LL PRINT ON?

Where passion beats,
my soul, it whirs.
Where love may stir,
my soul, it beeps.

Where hearts may leap,
mine dials and screeches.
When I can't sleep,
it prints out speeches.

There's a fax machine where my soul should be.

Oh, to live as others do!
To shiver as the music swells!
To be one of those happy few
that weep within a painting's spell.

To find that when the referee
decrees the playoff season's blown,
I'll wander aimlessly to sea
with pockets filled with stones.

Those souls that burst with life and death,
that render raw emotion art.
While beauty tears their worlds apart,

my fax machine
might print a heart.

and tell me how much ink is left.
