Nope. I've actually never touched drugs, nor want to.
The biggest thing I've smoked is a salmon, and I think I'd like to keep it that way.

haha I was so straight edge in high school. now I smoke and drink, the latter less frequently, only at parties. I wouldn't ever do any hard drugs, the only other thing I want to try is LSD, but it's not addictive or toxic like meth, coke, heroine etc.

but yeah, I am basically an average Berkeley resident who looooooooves blazing.

there are a lot of misconceptions about weed. people make it out to be this big deal when it really isn't. it just brings a new perspective to things: it makes things really a lot funnier than they are and helps me sleep.

Nah, it's not that that bothers me about drugs. It's that things are funnier in the same way sitcoms are funnier than real life. It's a replacement--a cardboard cutout. If the world isn't funny on its own, we're all screwed. If I can't change my perspective without lighting up, then I am definitely screwed. And if I can't sleep at night, something is wrong, and I don't want to take any drugs or pills to solve it, not even if they're legal. I like to solve things knowing that I'm 100% in control. It makes me feel independent.

I'm not slamming you for it. I don't even know how many authors (and obviously music journalists) have gotten blazed before, or on a regular basis. It's just not something that I'm going to do.

that's perfectly fine. but you see, I am perfectly capable of getting high without drugs. like my runner's high. or just yoga and meditation. or the euphoria of really good chocolate, like that mayan gold dark with orange. mmh.

and the new perspective thing, you misunderstood me. I can't properly explain this, it's just something you have to experience to understand. I know that's shitty of me to say when you've reiterated that you don't want to do drugs, but it's true. in my opinion, marijuana is a lot less harmful than cigarettes. which I don't smoke.

and yeah, it does help with the writing too


speaking of which, the whole absinthe/Hemingway thing just intrigues me so much. I've wanted to get my hands on some ever since I heard it became legal.

I know you meant different perspective as in a different feeling, and not the "whoa...what if instruments really played your fingers" logic that stoners tend to have.

And yes, it would help with writing, mainly because you're not as tense and concerned about what you're saying. You're a little more honest than you'd normally be with your audience and yourself (it would take longer to type, of course.) Still, I don't like losing control, or damaging my brain, not even a little. Yeah, so I'm not doing it. Just got back from watching a few of my friends get drunk, and while it's entertaining to watch, I don't think I'd want to be them. That, and I'm sure I'd be a scary drunk. I'm pretty paranoid and have violent tendencies, so I could see myself screaming, laughing, and breaking things. Maybe not. I dunno. It's just not what I want to do.

I've always thought I'd be a violent drunk too, but I'm actually really really not. I just get super happy and extra friendly and sometimes a little too, well friendly if you catch my drift. but only if I'm really wasted.

Yeah, one of my friends are pretty, um, friendly when drunk, too. Only to his girlfriend, of course, but it's still pretty awkward to watch. I feel bad for her, in a way. Taking care of drunks is like taking care of six-year-olds--really dirty, happy six-year-olds.
