The conch's twist holds
an old world. Just beyond the glossy rim
where the shell curves out of sight
a half-full bottle plunges
into the sea. The green glass
has no end, its sides spreading
light like a coloured lens. But this ocean
is a dark edge, as if eyes had never lifted
its hard dermis. A wave curls
and becomes icecream in a turqouise bowl. You
are here, looking through spirals at someone else
who is you. The bowl empties
and a cold signifier stings the skull.
This time it is no echo
of the sea's thousandfoot rush, or the tang
of stale salt inhaled from a pinkwhite lip. This time
you are there. The ic

Seven Poems
1. I am walking a tightrope
between here and forever
to watch you tend roses.
2. I should have slept
before the hurricane.
I was twisting wrought iron
into silver.
You are so very loved.
3. He made a monument
to sorrow and relief
in the creaking timbers.
With my bare fingers
I felt songs in the elegiac blue.
4. Oh, little savior of Tlaxcala,
I remember your sad eyes.
Spend yourself forward, into the desert:

her mother gave her an electric belt and said

strapped it around her daughter's tiny waist. she told her

he'd been told his daffodils would never bloom
again. he said "flowers die when no one
sees them" and she put her hands over his eyes.
"i'm a flower" she repeated over and over.

They sure do burn, alright.
Just be glad I didn't say "grandmother's". And yes, that did cross my mind.
It's for a contest for the worst haiku ever:lilithlairpoetry.deviantart.co…
Edit: Changed from "grandfather's" to "grandmother's"...because I'm a pervert. XD
Edit again *sigh* Lost. I was so sure that I'd win, though, or at least place in the top three. Even then, I kinda thought there were some better ones that should have been in the winner's circle. I guess it's a matter of taste, though. Still fun, nonetheless.
P.S. For the anal-retentive people that realize this isn't 5-7-5 syllables, simply replace "burning pink suns" with "three burning pink suns". There, now. Happy? Good. XD
A.D.D random thought! All morals are relative, but not all relatives are moral. 0_o
